Sunday, August 2, 2009 Our Last Activity

It's our last evening in Maine, we are sad to be leaving but happy to go home and see our families again. Tonight we enjoyed an evening around the campfire. Magnolia Pearl of the Plymouth Hittys in Maine brought some Hula Hoops. After she taught us how to use them she told us we each take one home with us. Camp was so much fun. Thanks Hitty Mom's for sending us.

The Back Cove. In the book Hitty Her First Hundred Years Hitty tells about going raspberry picking with Phoebe and Andy at the back cove, we're sure it looks much different today than it did in 1929.

Wildlife animal park

Today we took little Owen to the Wildlife Animal Park in Gray.
This Giraffe was carved with a chain saw and was Owen's favorite exibit.

Otter

Raven, this bird kept cawing at us, we were glad he was in a cage because he seemed mean and we were afraid he might have tried to carry us off like the crow did with Ancestor Hitty

Owl

Moose at the park. He was BIG!

Geese

Red Fox

Fawn

Coyote

Cheeta - it was a very hot day so most of the animals were trying to keep in the shade or hid under brush.

Bears carved with a chain saw were much cuter than the real bears.

The real bears were hot and their fur was shedding. Unlike the carved bears, they did not look friendly at all.

Bald Eagle Nest, it's so big we could fit a bunch of Hittys in that nest.

We Love Chocolate!

Look at these chocolate animals, they are enormous! Miss Sue and the Northeast Hittys in Maine say this place located in Scarborough, Maine has the best candy, soda and ice cream. We purchased a box of Bangor Taffy to take home to Mr. Tom.
