We gathered our picnic items and headed for Great Cranberry Island(http://www.cranberryisles.com/). We met Peggy G and Hitty Moxie along with Miss Sue's friend Annie and Hitty Lena Mae. After 35 days of rain it was wondeful to have a clear, dry sunny day for our travels.

The traveling Hittys back l-r Hitty Eva and Hitty Theresa, front l-r Hitty Felicity, Hitty Prunella, Hitty Lena Mae. Hitty Moxie seated handing out a crocheted sweater for each of us made by Miss Peggie.

Here we are in front of the Preble home, the Lilac bushes look just as Rachel Field described in her book.

Walking down the Cranberry Road
This was our favorite house.
Scenic view from the road.

Our boat, The Sutton, docked at GCI, Sutton Island where Rachel Field drafted some of the book Hitty Her First Hundred Years is in the background with Acadia National Park Mountains "The Bubbles" beyond Sutton Island.

Admission into the Historical Society and museum is free but it is customary to make a donation.

We put in some dollar bills and each signed our name to the guestbook.

Lunch time at the Hitty Cafe', everyone ordered the Cranberry Island Salad.

We aren't sure who carved this Hitty.

We had a grand time playing on this ship replica.

We did some shopping at The Old Red Store and Antique Shop in Bernard, Maine. Here we are on the porch.

We liked the wicker chair.

We then drove over to Bass Harbor to see the cliffs and the lighthouse.
